I recently heard the story of a young man that particularly inspired me. Thirteen-year-old Spencer Zimmerman competed successfully in triathlons. While this is an individual sport, Spencer decided that winning wasn’t the most important thing for him. He wanted to help someone else win, too, and he thought of his friend Dayton. The problem was Dayton has cerebral palsy, but that obstacle wouldn’t deter Spencer. For one triathlon, he brought along his friend, thinking that Dayton should have the opportunity to do and enjoy what everybody else does.
Spencer swam 500 meters, biked 12 miles, and ran over 3 miles with Dayton either fastened behind him or in a stroller in front of him. “I knew that Dayton was five feet from me the whole time,” Spencer said. “It was awesome to know that one of my really good friends could be with me.”
Spencer Zimmerman discovered at a very young age what so many of us take a lifetime to learn – true success comes not just in competing but in caring about and developing success in others.
I am so proud to say, this is exactly how it works at Forever!
The only way a Distributor can succeed in this business is by helping others succeed. The bigger the team is, and the closer they work together, the higher they can climb. You cannot become an Eagle Manager, a Diamond Manager,a Profit Sharing earner, a Rally qualifier, or a 12.5K CC achiever by holding others down. You build, you grow, and you work together, and when all is said and done, you know that by building your team morally and ethically you will continue to grow. Someone who competes and fights with others for business may find short term success but, eventually, they are using a model that is not sustainable.
In Forever, teamwork provides endless opportunity. When we focus outward on our team, rather than inward on ourselves, we can achieve more than ever before. Miklos Berkics talks about this in his inspirational “I am Forever” video. Miki realized that the goal was not to make money, but rather to help other people and then the money would follow. He learned the simple but universal truth that we cannot succeed UNLESS everyone else succeeds.
Miklos Berkics is…FOREVER.
I challenge you to eliminate the “shortage mentality” from your thinking. Leave behind the notion that there is only so much to go around. That’s not just bad thinking, it’s bad business! Successful people are always looking for opportunities to help others. I have seen again and again in my life, and in the lives of thousands of Distributors, that if we will put the needs of others in front of our own, we will succeed together. This kind of attitude sets a powerful example for your team – one they will be excited to follow.
Forever is a fantastic team that I am so happy to be a part of. As you continue to build your business, think of the powerful example of Spencer Zimmerman. I have dedicated my life to helping others achieve the health and lifestyle they deserve, and I hope you will also accept my challenge to do so. You will be rewarded for your efforts and together, like Spencer and Dayton, we will find incredible success.
